Spirit of Arden completes great weekend for Arden breds

Three year old gelding Spirit of Arden (Somebeachsomewhere/Winter Rose) added win number three to the list of Arden Lodge bred winners for the weekend when he won the Cunningham Plumbing Mobile Pace at the Waimate Trotting Club Meeting at Oamaru today.

On Friday night Arden's Reality (Somebeachsomewhere/Real Wings) won the Publica-Brands, Websites, Apps Mobile Pace at the NZ Metropolitan Trotting Club Premier Meeting and very soon after Arden's Horizon (Bettor's Delight/ Arden's Rose by Somebeachsomewhere) picked up his first win in only his second start in the Alabar 2 YO Colts and Geldings Mobile Pace at the Auckland Trotting Club Meeting. Having had the bad luck of a punctured tyre in his first start Horizon showed his true ability to win quite comfortably according to driver Zachary Butcher.

Today's winner Spirit of Arden was purchased by Mrs Dianne Gillies at the 2018 Yearling Sales, qualified in August 2019, and raced twice as a two year old before spelling. Today was his first race start since August 2020. Dean Taylor trains the gelding and Robbie Close was the driver for his first win. Spirit of Arden is the tenth winner that the 2015 Broodmare Excellence Award winner Winter Rose has produced. Her other progeny include Bettor's Strike, Southwind Arden, Rocknroll Arden and Arden's Choice.

This season Winter Rose has a handsome Downbytheseaside colt.
